I love Cardinal Stritch High School and am staying here! There was a misunderstanding surrounding an announcement in the Blade article of May 31st which read that I have been named the "president of the newly created Kateri School System within the Blessed Kateri Deanery... no longer president of Cardinal Stritch High School, which is part of the Kateri School System."
What it means is this. Our deanery, in a visionary move, has decided to create a Catholic school system out of our existing Catholic schools. All nine of the parishes in this deanery are now responsible for Catholic education in this deanery, and I have been appointed the first President of the newly created Kateri School System.
This is a great development! We are the first such system in our Diocese where parishes, currently with and without schools, share in the mission of Catholic education. In essence, this means that all of our parishes now have a pre-K-12 Catholic school. That school has campuses at St. Jerome, Sacred Heart, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and Cardinal Stritch High School.
Below is the mission statement the leaders of our deanery arrived at as we set out on this new way of doing things. Please note words and expressions like: "world class," "sustainable," and "inviting young people to be disciples of Jesus Christ."
It is my belief and duty to carry out this mission statement along side my administrative team and the newly founded Board of Directors.
"The collective pastoral leadership of this deanery is committed to providing our students, whom we believe are created in the image and likeness of God, a sustainable world class Catholic education system. The education system will be designed in a way that helps every individual student achieve at their highest academic levels while providing strong extra-curricular programs. Our mission is to invite young people to be disciples of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere where stewardship will be a way of life that will pervade every aspect of school culture."
I will still be leading, with the Administrative Team and the Board, Cardinal Stritch High School. You will see me at games and events, in the cafeteria at lunch, at Masses and in the classroom. That being said, there will be some change as I will be doing some of the same at the elementary schools. There will be learning as we begin, but I trust we will all be patient with each other for the sake of our young people.
Let us pray for each other! Fr. Dave Reinhart

Catholic schools
Catholic high schools? The Pope thanked those who have given their
lives, time, and money to the ministry of Catholic education.
lives, time, and money to the ministry of Catholic education.
In Toledo people are asking of it is worth it. It is indeed worth it
if one values young people being disciples of Jesus Christ. If our
value is sports or financial success, then perhaps other, more
affordable alternatives, are just as good.
Have a Cardinal day! Father David Reinhart
